TENDER MERCIES AND MISSION MIRACLES (March 2026)
-El. Weiss fell through a concrete lid of sewage tank while we were visiting Lon's house under construction. There could have been some serious physical damage. Two metal bars saved him; he caught himself and was able to get out. So many "could've happened" scenarios that were avoided. And this just a couple of weeks before he finished his mission! Truly blessed.
-MARY AND SPENCER'S BABY WAS BORN!! We were totally surprised!! Remi Louise Cole born on March 2nd. Birth is a true miracle. Welcome to the world, little Remi!! I can hardly wait to meet you!
-The Cambodian Temple was finally announced! After all this long time waiting, it is a blessing of blessings to move forward. It will open in August, and El. Kearon will be the visiting apostle.
-We comment often that Google Maps in miraculous in getting us to the most remote places in Cambodia. Absolutely amazing. We shake our heads all the time on how it is even possible!
-Jim was prompted to check the water tank filling up at the Kamboul church (it is on the 4th floor). The float had been removed, so there was no automatic turn off. 5 minutes later, and there would have been major flooding in the building.
-We visited Lon and Heup with food. We felt like it was a tender mercy that she had an accident to bring them to a humble state and more frequent visits from us. Our surprise visit was right after it happened, and the timing was inspired. Jim was able to give her a blessing. We have loved the relationship built.
-Songs bring the spirit in such a special way. I feel like Heavenly Father has blessed me with promptings to share Primary songs from time to time. Recently I sang,"My Heavenly Father Loves Me" with Lon's family when we were talking about the beauty of their peaceful piece of the world and "I Am a Child of God" with Vut and family as they learned about the purpose of life. El. Frances and El. Draper recorded "I Need Thee Every Hour" for discouraged Lee and Vanny to encourage them, and a small gathering of our local priesthood brothers sang "God Be with You 'Til We Meet Again." All special moments of feeling the spirit.
-An inspired moment was when El. Draper gave a promise of a miracle to Lee and Vanny within one month if they would do all in their part to extend faith and be doing the right things. They are very distraught over family circumstances at the moment. Not sure exactly what will happen, but if looking, they will see God's hand.
-MARCH 13 - ELLIE GRACE DUFFIN was born to Spencer and Kyla!!! Always, always, always a miracle to see a brand new life beginning. I can hardly wait to hold her and feel heaven so close!!
-We were able to visit Srey Neang with her newborn baby. I got to hold him the whole time. What a precious baby! It made me feel a little soothed with missing the newborn snuggles at home! Yes, a tender mercy to my heart!
-I keep feel extra grateful about doing Primary music. It is a such a blessing that we are able to have a printer and resources to make this happen, and a blessing that I have energy and enthusiasm to stick with it through a foreign language effort! I have made visual aids for many songs. This involves finding and printing the right pictures off Etsy, enlarging the Khmer words and cutting/pasting phrases on (no little job when I can't read them!), and laminating them. I feel like this is a contribution that will last for years to come in both areas we serve.
-Led Primary music in Kamboul completely on my own without missionary help. - tender mercy that we could communicate at all!! Lots of solo singing in English and humming while the leaders used my pictures with words.
-A little miracle happened. The coloring copies for Kamboul primary children had been misplaced. We looked through every folder and drawer. As I sat there, I said a prayer and then had the thought to check the room next to the Primary room. There they were in the first cabinet I opened!
-We were watched over as we drove home from the shack a different direction than usual. Google maps wanted us to go down a muddy side road. Opted out! Then it showed our route dead-ending with no connecting roads. We kept following it anyway and miraculously made it home without google help and with no backtracking - in the dark! And we were not too far off track! One of those adventures!
-I forgot to fill out the form for jury duty! When I first tried it (a few times), the form wouldn't open. Then I just forgot about it. The tender mercy was that I happened to go on a website that just happened to mention "jury" in it, and then my brain was triggered! Oh my goodness - got it done just in the nick of time! Government issues are nothing to trifle with.
-My eye started really irritating me - watering, could hardly open it up, etc. I decided to just stay in the car while the others all went inside to visit MakYeh. Well, she came out to the car to greet us and even opened my door. There was no alternative but to go in! And the miracle was the it suddenly stopped hurting! The Lord blesses us as we serve!
-Made it home at 5:54 from zone conference for our 6:00 English class! Whew!! It was an hour plus drive. The elders needed to get vaccinations, and so many driving factors could have delayed things. We all wanted to be there - 15 to 20 students are coming now!
-Read through patriarchal blessing again, with the focus on "spiritual gifts." I wrote some down and was happily filled with a sense of gratitude for all God has given me and that I am able to offer myself as a contributor in His kingdom. It was an enlightening time.
